RE: Marathon Florida-campgrounds

I have stayed at both Knights key and Jolly Roger. I prefer Jolly Roger (JR) as it is right on the water with a sea wall, (if you can get those sites). They have a boat ramp, a floating platform out in the bay, and boat slips. They are a full hook-up facility and have showers. They also have awesome sunsets, and you can see lobsters all along the seawall, especially at night with your flashlight. The staff is friendly and we have not had any problems there. The sites are not crowded, as previously posted, in my opinion. The price is right for the keys, at $40/night. At Knight's key, I believe you do not have full hook up, and have to pay for a pump out, and it is more expensive. But Either way you are in the keys, and that is what counts. Have a great vacation.

RE: Florida Keys, Where do I stay??

First off, thanks for your service to all of us. When making your way down through the keys, there are some other things to see. Key Largo: John Pennekamp State Park...Snorkeling trips, kayaking, boat rentals and a campground. Further south, Islamorada....some great fishing to be done, maybe on a charter boat. In Marathon you have a few CG, like Jolly Roger @ MM 59 or so. They are @$40 night with full hook-up, pet friendly, boat ramp, showers and great sunset views. Very nice people. There is also Knights key RV park, at the start of the 7 mile bridge, ocean side. I'm not so sure of the price, but do a search on this site, and others have posted comments. If you stop in Marathon, there is a charter boat called the Marathon Lady, ocean side, which has been in business for many, many years. Also great places to eat while in Marathon, Island Grill, the wooden spoon (for bkfst), and also Sharky's in Key Colony Beach. If you have time, The Dolphin Research Center is great. I hope you have a safe and enjoyable trip. Keep your lights on for safety, while driving on US 1, can be dangerous..

RE: Fla. Keys restaurant recommendations please

You should try Hobo's...excellent crab cakes...Key Largo, and in Marathon, MM @ 60 Fish Grill or Island Grill, on the bayside, also great food, and they have a gift shop where you can get some salsas or hot sauces. Great views also. For breakfast try the wooden spoon in Marathon. Bon Apetit.

Electrical cord mishap

I will get straight to the question..While repositioning my MH I accidentally ran over my shore line, and it ripped out of the electrical box,( attached to the MH). It is 30 amps. The electrical box is still attached. I have not yet opened it up. Any suggestions, would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Jetty Park, FL

Need some info, please. I am planning to go to Cape Canaveral in Nov. I have stayed at Jetty Park CG about 2 years ago, and for the most part liked it. I have checked RV park reviews, and found that the park seems to be in need of upkeep. There are only two reviews for this year. I was wondering if anyone has stayed there recently, what your opinion is, etc. We will be in a 24 ft motorhome, with a 7 yr old. Thanks

RE: Stone Mountain Park GA???

We stayed there for 4 days in March,2008. The sites are not level. The front desk staff are not the friendliest. We were in the M loop, at the bottom of the hill. Great view of Stone Mtn. The best sites are the ones in front of the check in area. They have wooden decks, barbeques, a large lawn in front with a playground, pool and the pavilion is right there. The staff says these sites fill up fast. If I were to go again, I would make it a point to stay in one of these. Stone mtn park has plenty to do, get your tickets at the CG, you get two days for the price of one. We stayed in a motorhome, Have a great time, I would go again.

RE: Stone Mountain in July

We just returned from Stone Mtn CG last week, as well. We were in site 328, loop M for 5 days. It was a little "un-leveled", but we used some blocks and that seemed to help. I agree with SETenn, the employees are not helpful. We arrived on Friday, before Easter. When I checked in I asked the front desk if there were any activities planned, and she told me about a Sunrise Service at 6:15 AM, on the top of the mtn., on Easter Sunday. She was not sure about any shuttle service to the area, and she was not sure if the tram would be running at that time. Basically I had to try to figure it out myself. On Saturday, around 11:30 AM, we happened to go by the pavilion, and noticed some coffee and donuts, etc., It turns out they had had an Easter Egg Hunt !!! at 11:00 AM. Needless to say I was quite upset, since I had inquired about it the day before. On another note, the Internet access is poor, unless you are near the pavilion, which I believe you will be. They charge $19.99 for a week, but the reception is poor at times. The CG does offer a shuttle service, which is very good and reliable, check the times it's running, they vary. They will take you to the park, tram, etc. Do get the tickets at the CG, as mentioned above. (If you are going to the Aquarium on a Weekend or holiday, you need to purchase your tickets online. Look into the citypass, if you plan to do more than one attraction.) The Duck tour is fun, The Barnyard for your daughter will be fun (it's like a big playhouse - foam balls- loud noises). Food at Ms. Katie's was excellent, and the service was very good. No campfires, unless you have the mesh cover. Check out the laser show, they have a lawn area for watching it. Have a great time, we did, and would go back

RE: GA campgrounds

We just spent three nights at Creekwood Resort, and were very happy with the campground, the sites, the location and mostly with Robert and Melissa. The CG is close to Unicoi State Park, Anna Ruby Falls, Helen and other local attractions. We stayed in a motorhome. There were Class A's, & TT. Visit their Website or call them, they are truly nice people, and are eager to help you with your plans, etc.

RE: atwood furnace not working

OK, so now, I too am confused. I am looking at my thermostat and it has a slot for gas heat, electric heat, off and cool. Fan speed lo or hi, and fan mode auto or on. It is an RVcomfort.hp model. We have used the furnace for the last 8 days, my propane levels have not decreased, I usually use it on the "electric" mode. The unit/heater has been working since we encountered the problem, so I tend to think it was something with the thermostat. Thanks for all your help.

RE: atwood furnace not working

I turned the thermostat off this morning. DH turned it on a little while later, and wouldn't you know it was working. If I'm connected to electrical at site, what does my propane have to do with it, if I have it set to electrical, not gas? If i'm connected, how can my battery be low? Thanks for your help.

RE: atwood furnace not working

I was connected to electricity, not propane, and my tanks are at 1/2. My stove top is working, as well as my water heater, Thanks.

atwood furnace not working

Need some help again...I have an Atwood furnace in my 2007 Fleetwood Jamboree. We are connected to 30 amp power, and have been using it fine for the last 4-5 nights. Last night all was well, unit was cycling and heating appropriately. During the night I smelled a strong odor like something burning. It woke me up, did not notice anything strange, and the unit was blowing air. This morning, it is cold in the camper, the unit did not shut off all night long, but no heat was coming out. Any suggestions??? Can I still use the unit on Propane? Should I not turn it on anymore?? Thanks for your help

RE: Family Trip to Florida

We stayed at Jetty Park, near the space center a few years ago. You can see the cruise ships going by, they have a pier for fishing, and a park for the kids, as well as a beach. Nice place. Have fun...

Miami to Stone Mountain, GA..Help

I was hoping to get some input for an upcoming trip. I'll be traveling with 7 year old and DH in 24 Ft. Class C. We have from Mar 20 to the 30 off, and wanted to go towards the Atlanta area. Read the previous posts re: traffic, etc, and kind of decided to go towards Stone Mtn. I understand they are not fully operational, and only certain activities will be functioning. I plan to leave Miami Wed PM, and drive for 5 - 7 hours while my son sleeps, or more if we can. That would get us to Orlando (or Ocala - Gainesville area). I was planning a night at Walmart. The following day we would try to reach Valdosta, or somewhere in the vicinity. I plan to arrive at Stone mtn, on Friday the 21st. We could then make use of the facilities that would be open, hike, relax, etc...on Sat and Sunday. From reading the other posts, I would take MARTA to the aquarium, CNN, etc. in downtown Atlanta. I think that would be the bulk of our plans. Based on your experiences, how long would it take us to realistically drive from Miami to Stone Mtn. Are the stops I plan reachable, or should I drive more or less. Once at stone mtn, 3 -4 days...is that enough? On the return I was thinking Savannah, I-95 south vicinity. Any suggestions. Thanks for your help.
